Frequently Asked Questions
What is keepsake jewellery?
Keepsake jewellery is a deeply personal and handcrafted way to hold onto your most precious memories. Using inclusions such as breastmilk, ashes, hair, placenta, fabric, grave soil, or other meaningful elements, each piece is carefully preserved within jeweller’s-grade resin.
Keepsake jewellery allows you to carry the memory of a loved one, a special moment, or a cherished bond with you—always close to your heart.
What is the material of the jewellery?
Most of our jewellery is crafted from 925 sterling silver, with the option of rose gold or yellow gold plating. We also offer select pieces in high-quality stainless steel for lasting durability.
For those seeking something even more special, almost all of our designs can be custom made in solid gold—available in white, yellow, or rose gold. If you’d love your keepsake crafted in solid gold, please don’t hesitate to get in touch for a custom order.
Will the plating of the jewellery wear?
If you choose white gold, rose gold, or yellow gold plating for your keepsake jewellery, please note that plating will naturally wear over time, eventually revealing the sterling silver beneath. Because this depends on factors like daily wear, care, and skin chemistry, we cannot guarantee how long the plating will last.
For longer-lasting wear, we recommend sterling silver or white gold plating, particularly for rings. If you love the look of rose gold or yellow gold, we offer custom designs in solid gold (available in white, yellow, or rose gold). Please reach out if you’d like to explore this option.
Will my jewellery tarnish and if so, what do I do?
It’s natural for 925 sterling silver jewellery to tarnish over time. Sterling silver is made up of 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% copper. While the copper adds strength and durability, it’s also the element that can cause tarnishing—especially if aftercare instructions aren’t followed.
If your jewellery does tarnish, it can be restored with a jewellery polishing cloth (please note: do not polish plated jewellery, as this may remove the plating). Another great way to keep your sterling silver looking bright is to wear it regularly and always follow the care tips provided.
Will my breastmilk stone change colour?
Your breastmilk stone should not change in appearance if the correct care is taken. I use a high-quality, anti-yellowing jeweller’s resin to preserve your keepsake.
In the rare case that an issue occurs during the preservation process, any yellowing would appear within the first 30 days of receiving your jewellery. If this happens, I will gladly repair or replace your keepsake once it is mailed back to me.
If yellowing occurs after 30 days, it is generally due to external factors and not the preservation process. In this case, repairs or replacements can still be arranged, but the costs will be the responsibility of the customer. Each situation will be handled with care and understanding, as it’s always my priority that you remain happy with your precious keepsake.
Do you offer returns or issue refunds?
Please read our refund and exchanges policy (here)
How do I send my inclusions to you and, how much do I send?
Please click here for full mailing instructions. Once your order is placed you will receive an email within 48hrs with the address to mail you inclusions to. This is not listed on the website for privacy reasons. If you are ordering from the UK, after you have placed your order please contact me for the UK mailing address.
What happens to any left-over milk/ashes?
I always preserve more breastmilk than is needed for your keepsake. This allows me to create additional pieces for you in the future, or to repair your stone if anything were to happen.
For ashes and other sentimental inclusions, any unused materials will be returned safely to you with your order. If ashes have already been mixed into resin but not used in your jewellery, they will be made into a complimentary pocket keepsake gift for you to treasure.
How do I take care of my jewellery?
This jewellery is very precious I want your pieces to last you for as long as possible!
Please follow these after care instructions as much as you possibly can to keep your keepsake as beautiful as new;
When you are not wearing your jewellery:
Store your jewellery in an airtight container out of direct sunlight when it is not being worn.
Remove before entering certain waters:
Your keepsake stone is strong, non-yelllowing and waterproof in fresh water.
Please remove your jewellery before entering salted water, chlorinated water or any hot tubs/spas etc. Chlorine and other chemicals used in swimming pools etc are corrosive to precious metals and can cause your keepsake stone to become weak and potentially dull the shine.
Chemicals, cleaning and body products:
Remove your jewellery when working with any type of household chemicals such as; bleaches, detergents and solvents. These can cause corroding to the metal and dull the shine on your keepsake stone.
The use of skin lotions, perfumes and makeup can build up on your jewellery and will affect it over time. We recommend to fully allow products to absorb into the skin before putting your jewellery on.
Can I add colour/glitter into my keepsake jewellery?
Absolutely! We offer a wide variety of colours, glitters, foils, and patterns that can be added to your keepsake. These details can make your piece even more unique and beautifully personal.
If you have something special in mind—or just want to explore the options—please don’t hesitate to get in touch. I’d love to help bring your vision to life.
