Frequently Asked Questions

What is keepsake jewellery?

Keepsake jewellery is jewellery that is handcrafted from precious memories/inclusions such as breastmilk, ashes, hair, placenta, fabric, grave dirt and more. The precious inclusions are mixed into jewellers grade resin and set into a beautiful keepsake piece of your choice i.e. ring, pendant, earrings and more. You will then always be able to keep that precious memory or loved one close to you.

What is the material of the jewellery?

Most of our Jewellery is made from 925 sterling silver with the option of rose gold or gold plating. Some pieces are made from high quality stainless steel. Almost all of our jewellery can be custom made with 14k/18k solid white gold, yellow gold or rose gold please reach out if you would like to have a piece custom made in this material (click here). All of our product materials are clearly labelled in the product descriptions as well as if it is available in 14/18k white gold, 14/18k rose gold or 14/18k yellow gold.

Will the plating of the jewellery wear?

If you have chosen white gold/rose gold or gold plating for your keepsake pieces, then eventually yes, the plating will wear off to expose the sterling silver underneath. There is no guarantee on how long the plating will last so please be aware of this before placing your order in any plating material. We do recommend you choose sterling silver or white gold plating (especially for rings) - If you prefer the look of rose gold or yellow gold jewellery then please reach out to us as we can have almost all of our product's custom made in 14k/18k white gold, yellow gold or rose gold.

Will my jewellery tarnish and if so, what do I do?

Your jewellery can tarnish. 925 sterling silver is 92.5% silver and 7.5% copper. Copper is added to the silver to provide strength, pure silver is very soft and not the best candidate for long lasting jewellery. The added copper in the silver is what can make the jewellery tarnish and of course not following the aftercare instructions correctly. If this happens you can polish the jewellery with a polishing cloth (note: do not polish plated jewellery, this will remove the plating). Another way to avoid tarnishing is to wear your jewellery regularly and follow the care instructions.

Will my breastmilk stone change colour?

No your breastmilk stone shouldn’t change colour if the correct care has been taken. I use a high quality anti-yellowing jewellers resin. If there has been an error with the preservation process of your milk which has caused the stone to yellow this will happen within the first 30 days. If yellowing has occurred within the 30 days of you receiving your jewellery I will replace/repair your keepsake. If so, your jewellery will need to be mailed back to me. If your breastmilk stone has yellowed after the 30 days of receiving it and you want it repaired/replaced this will be at your own expense - each matter will be discussed and a resolution achieved, I want you to always be happy with your precious keepsakes.

Do you offer returns or issue refunds?

What happens to any left-over milk/ashes?

I will always preserve more milk than needed and keep it on hand! I do this because most likely after receiving your keepsake somewhere in the future you will most likely want another made or if something where to happen to your stone It can be fixed. Any ashes that have not been used during the process will be mailed back to you as well as other sentimental inclusions. If any ashes have been mixed into resin but not used in the keepsake this will be made into a small free pocket keepsake gift.

How do I take care of my jewellery?

This jewellery is very precious I want your pieces to last you for as long as possible!

Please follow these after care instructions as much as you possibly can to keep your keepsake as beautiful as new;

When you are not wearing your jewellery:

Store your jewellery in an airtight container out of direct sunlight when it is not being worn.

Remove before showering or bathing:

Please remove your jewellery before showering, bathing, washing your hands and swimming. Your keepsake stone is strong and water resistant, but it is not waterproof. With Prolonged exposure to water this can affect the strength of the prongs in your ring.

Avoid exposure to UV and heat:

Heat can cause your resin to become weak. Do not store your jewellery in direct sunlight or wear it for a prolonged time in the sun. Heat can cause your resin to become weak.

Avoid chemicals:

Always remove your jewellery when working with any type of harsh chemicals this includes soaps, hand sanitizer, perfumes, lotions or cleaning products. Exposure to chemicals may dull your piece of jewellery.
